Congratulations to Cherry and all who walked the walk! A wonderful £303 was raised and a great time had by all!!

All money raised will be split 50/50 between Weymouth Drama Club and our chosen charity this year, Life Education.

Looking after our club.

It has come to our attention that some members are putting liquids in the bin (namely sour milk, and a cardboard cup of coke) Please dispose of liquids sensibly!! Also there is a recycling box in the kitchen, please use it. Any paper can be recycled so please do not just throw this away. There has also been a problem with graffiti in the Gents and on the trophy cabinet, please respect out premises and leave them as you would wish to find them!!

Volunteers Needed!

We would like to set up a list of people who are willing to do Front Of House duties at both The Warehouse productions and at the Pavilion. Festival Play

The 1st round of the British Drama League takes place during the first week of March 2010

Jan Dench will be directing Say Something Happened by Alan Bennet for the Festival this year.  She will hold auditions on the 5 January 2010.  There is a cast of three: an older man and woman and a young woman.  The actors must be able to speak in a Yorkshire accent!

April 2010 Production

We were unfortunately unable to cast Hedda Gabler, however that doesn’t mean we won’t be putting on a production in April!

As there is not the usual time to select and audition plays, we will be holding open auditions on 26 January 2010, and the likely play will be either Pinter’s The Caretaker, or The Beauty Queen of Lenane.  An open audition means that scripts won’t be available beforehand, but come along on the night and the director of the chosen play will explain what is required for the play.

Nothe Fort Production – Spring / Summer 2011

There is a tentative booking for an outdoor production in the spring / summer of 2011 at the Nothe Fort.  Because an outdoor production takes time the committee is thinking of choosing the play earlier than would normally be the case – ie by the end of the summer 2010.  The committee will discuss this option at their next meeting, so if you wish to express a view please write to the committee before 14 January 2010.

Housekeeping at the Warehouse

A general reminder please for members to wash, dry up and PUT AWAY cups, glasses etc after they have been used at meetings and rehearsals.  There is no ‘magic fairy’ to do this for you!  Also please don’t forget to pay for any drinks that you have.

Club Evenings / Important Dates

5 Jan – Auditions for Festival play ‘Say Something Happened’

26 Jan – Open Auditions for spring production

2 February – Quiz Night

Please note that Club Nights commence at 7.45p.m unless otherwise stated.
